The US sanctions imposed on many countries usually include items that directly hurt populations, such as medical supplies to Iran. A better future means caring, human feeling, strengthening all the people. Hold back on guns, and technology   but hurting the vulnerable creates pockets of illness and ill feeling that will take generations to repair.

Remember what we learned in school,  the idiocy of “everything was OK till he hit me back.”
