While Trump is doing damage it is important to recall that, while it was much subtler, the pre-trump period was systemically dysfunctional. Climate warming, econolocal destruction, automation ineqaulity were the outputs. So it ws only a mattr of time before the system we then had broke down.

Trump was beneficiary of that, but with Trump  we got more damage than we hoped for, but a positive version of Trump from the democrats progressives nor the media, was not forthcoming.
