1775. Does chaos explain apparent conservatism?

The reaction to Trump’s  wildcard reaction and action in the mist of a complex society is showing how fragile the system is because with every tweet he stirs up hidden connections and scares a lot of People.  Reminds me of the time I hit an old woodstump with a tennis racket and got shotgunned  by a few hundred wasps. I sense that people feel that if they tried to change anything, like a game of pick up Stix, it will all come apart .

Since it is all coming apart anyway and we have arrived at that point that Yogi Berra described as “if you come to a fork in the road take it,”  what shall we do?

Tempting to just sit it out, but besides being boring, it avoids the human gut  instinct  described by Confucius, and I think by Adam Smith:  the reaction of a man seeing a child about to fall into a well.
